Pain

Pain is meant to be felt
You could push it aside
Only just for a while
Soon it will come at you
That regret, that hurt
You just can’t pretend
You can act like it never happened

That hurt that emanates from your heart,
Especially if it’s from a loved one can leave you to sore.
But, at times, it’s okay to grief and embrace the breeze of joy – a ticket away from depression

Of course you could start the journey
The journey to heal yourself
You can get no healing from laughing away your tears
You ought to shed those tears
It’s your entitlement
You can pretend all you want but I see through you
Like a transparent evening dress

Now, I cry harder in the cave of ignorance
The shatters that wrecked me to who I am
Had I know better, I’d have guard my heart
Before it was left to the uncaring jester!

I am certain you now feel the ease
The burden you once carried around
You have lifted it off your shoulders
You have forgiven yourself
You can now live

What is this life,
that one would leave to chance?
Or pain that one should be at its mercy.
Life which flows like a river and vanishes away like vapour.
Peace all around is a savior, I’ll rest on its outstretched arms.
With a friend like Ayo,
I know my life will lit up and
remain green like the pastures.
