Thus Spake | by Anikulapo

Don’t wait too long

to read a poem;

Because sunlight will

become a scare in this cloud.

If by then, you have not

realized that revolution is

what makes you laugh

aftermath of hubris.

In a society like Nigeria

When Fela had warned us

to fight for our bloods in

this precocious land of grand-rituals.

Don’t you know, you are water

not to be stained by cruelty

Because this time, you have

hoisted your own flag, to

rebel for your right.

You have a right as a citizen

You have gratuity

as a child; but, your tax has

travelled on British and Delta

To new Canaan.

Dear you,

Don’t wait too long,

before you read a poem,

that will lead you to your

intriguing mind.
