Topic of the Moment | by Adekunle Adewunmi

I’ve been trying to gather my thoughts together on what I’d write on this topic and up till now, I can’t figure what to centre it on. This is a topic given to me by a friend 3 weeks ago to curate on which I just penned down in my notepad. So, if you’re reading this; carefully discern and pick what best soothes you and run with it.

There’s this man who acquired a lot of assets many years back and has only one son whose mother died at the end of her travail. This son was well nurtured by his father and never lacked nothing necessary for his growth and upkeep. He was well intimated about life and was baptised in the pool of wisdom so as to discern and recognise difference at all quarters.

Academically, his soundness was second to none yet, widely known throughout his secondary school days as a lad with brilliance and discipline. His father frowned at pride so, it was an alien nature to him as he embraced meekness till the days of his youth.

As many would pamper their only son and crave that he’s left untouched till he stinks, his father never did so but corrected him in love and used the rod of correction when necessary since that’s the development stage of his life. Money wasn’t a problem neither was food a menace; he lived happily till he graduated from the University and served his fatherland.

This boy grew to become a very successful Lawyer with an extraordinary chamber, his brand widely known beyond the shores of his country. He’s an incorruptible Lawyer known to many which later made him conferred as a Judge, an International Judge whose attention was always needed all around the world.

Lest I forget, he stood in gap for poor people who doesn’t have money to hire a Lawyer to fight for their cause against oppressors who doesn’t allow the less privileged get any breath of relief.

During his lifetime as a Lawyer, he kept a clean sheet, never lopsided any case for money, for justice was practically exhibited and documented by him. He was genuine and capable of fighting for a justified end and you know, haters; the bad eggs never loved him and had severally committed evil against him which always backfired.

One fateful day, fate smiled on an old woman and winked at him also. He has again obliged to fight for the helpless. Hmmnn.
Some months after his 30th birthday, a case was brought to his table and he carefully perused as he always does. Lo! He smelled a foul play. A rich man’s son had forcefully knew the daughter of an old widow and rejected the end result – pregnancy. You are wondering why the alarm was raised at the point of pregnancy right? They’ve reported to the police but the human securi-thieves who identifies themselves as the civilian’ friends have been shut at the mouth with a black envelope which has allowed the sufferings created with the spiral of silence linger. The shocking discovery of the pregnancy made the old woman cry for help on a radio program after adhering to the suggestion of a caring neighbour who is keen on justice being delivered.

As you can trust him… He made a fair judgement and justice was delivered. The old man’s son was charged for rape but later considered and made to get married to the old widow’s daughter. There’s a moral here.
I won’t ever forget this account also.

Several mercies and favours has he showcased, as he eschewed oppression as presented by the bad eggs in the society. As you can trust, he was bequeathed with innumerable awards and left a gold mine on the sands of time, for his life had mentored many and saved future glories that would have been decked at prison bars, innocently.

We can relate this man to our Saviour; Lord Jesus Christ. His mission is to save and redeem. To halt oppression and rescue. His happiness is to translate us from darkness into the kingdom of light where there’s no suffering nor caging. His words relieves the imprisoned and shows the way to the path of life to the lost by his sweet favour. The heartbroken has a sure place of rescue and joy erupts from his inner man.

He does not discriminate, neither does he condemn anyone. His mission is to save, and save completely without asking for anything. All he needs is your heart of willingness to migrate from that dark world to his pleasant city. That state of stagnancy and hopelessness comes to an end with him. You can trust his judgement!

His word for you is this: weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. I welcome you to this family of joyful people where weeping and gnashing of teeth doesn’t reign. Jesus reigns here. Peace reign here. To live in sin, in the confines of the rulership of the deceiver(devil) is an old fashion. Jesus Christ is an hot cake in town. Jesus is the topic of the moment. Quickly accept him and enjoy everlasting life, eternal joy with no end.

Congratulations my brethren. Jesus loves you!
